As we are all aware about the new ventures being carried out by various companies, whether it be Tata Motors bringing by its Nexon EV, or Hyundai with its compact SUV Kona electric, a big boon in the electric mobility was predicted in 2021 as per the previous growing trends which can be seen below.
Though as per the sales of FY 2021, a 20 % downfall was recorded, which can be considered as a result of Covid Pandemic and large widespread in India. Although Tata came up with two budget friendly electric cars compared to the competitors, them being the Tata Nexon EV and Tata Tigor EV, pandemic wasn't easy for them as well. It is being expected that the effect of Covid Pandemic to wash off its influence by last quarter of 2021, thus allowing for the revival of low sales of electric vehicle in FY 2021.
Now coming over to the new launches we can expect to come by 2022, with some of them having an expected launch by July 2021 which may end up being postponed. If we talk about hatchback, there are rumors of these following cars:
Tata Altroz EV
BMW i3 facelift
Maruti WagonR Electric
Tata Tiago EV
For the sedans, options are few due to shift from sedans to compact SUV, still there are some options for sedan lovers:
Tesla Model 3
Tesla Model S
Tesla Model Y
Last but not the least, for the SUV segment we have a handful of options:
Mahindra XUV 300 Electric
Hyundai Kona Electric facelift
Mercedes-benz EQA
Volvo XC40 Recharge
Mahindra eKUV100
Tata Sierra
Renault Kiger Electric
Tesla Model X
Maruti Futuro-e (Concept car)
Let's hope for the FY2022 to continue the growth of electric vehicles in the country!
